An Environment For Change
For my JAGS senior capstone, I have constructed a collection of fashion pieces inspired by human generated environmental destruction. My collection is composed of eight dresses that are meant to showcase the ecological massacre forged against our society. The themes explored in this collection include: forest fires, oil spill, air pollution, ocean trash, deforestation, the melting ice caps, landfills, and endangered species. The principal objective of this project is to influence the way people view our environment, presenting the opportunity for each individual to mindfully evaluate how they have personally impacted the delicate balance of our world. I've been given the opportunity to use my voice as an artist to reveal the negative effects on our environment humans have initiated due to our contribution through pollution, deforestation, animal endangerment, and climate change. But most importantly I want to remind those around me and anyone who views this collection that we have the ability to create a positive impact and response to these catastrophes that could forever improve our surroundings. Our ultimate goal should be to nurture a clean environment where future generations can experience the same beauty and artistic muse from nature as I do today.
